911SC Fan Grind Marks
![]() I recently acquired a 911SC, i wanted to clean up the tired looking fan and shroud. This pic is after vapor honing. As you can see it appears someone used a grinder on the hub of the fan for some reason, any ideas as to why they may have done this? |

More likely the fan was loose or improperly adjusted and was damaged during use.

The grind slots to create the flats sides are normal on early fans from the factory, as seen on these fans. As mepstein suggests, yours seems to have a little welding done to fix some kind of issue. You could probably have it fixed up a bit with some careful grinding. It would most likely need to be balanced.

The steel hub can be replaced. I think they are $150.
