Anyone put Corbeau Forza seats in an early 911?
I just picked up a set from a friend for a good price... $300 for two seats, sliders and Subaru brackets, not that the brackets are worth anything to me, but they're on the seats.
I'm wondering how people have mounted these? I know Corbeau makes Porsche brackets, but the few places I've found online selling them are both very expensive for what amounts to some bits of metal, and only sell them to people who bought the seats from them as well. I seem to have three options: 1) Buy corbeau brackets that I can use with the sliders on there. 2) Get a shop to fabricate a set of brackets 3) My friend suggested just having some tube steel mounting bars welded I guess to the floor, and mounting the scooby brackets to those. Thats how the seats are mounted in our rally car, and I haven't looked closely to see what was done with them... Anyone have any experience with this? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a good shop in the northwest or western suburbs of Boston, or in the Nashua NH area that can do that kind of thing? Extra bonus if they can get me a roll bar (bought and installed, or fabricated) as well... kill two birds with one stone. Thanks!

I have them in my 72, not much help here since I used their brackets. But, I hate the seat. It's very uncomfortable. You sit almost straight up. Long rides are no more. You get what you pay for in reguards to this seat. That's my 2 cents. Sorry, but would sell them and buy sparco's

I have the Forza II's in my '71. With the stock brackets the seat was too close and far too upright. I bolted the back of the rails directly to the floor and used square tubing to elevate the front about 3 inches. The stock brackets were cut up to use as reinforcements for the underside of the floor.
They're an OK track seat, but they started falling apart the day I put them in the car. There have been lots of threads about seats, do a search on "vintage seats" or "recaro" and you'll find tons of info. www.vintageseats.com www.bielstein.com/BF-Sitze/bf-sitze.html

Try Autobahn Performance. They are closer to Boston than to Nashua, but very reputable. Isn't Windward located in NH? Not sure if they have a real shop as well, or are they parts only?

Yes, I agree there are much better seats than the corbeau Forza. I will have mine repadded and recovered at some point. Somewhere I have a phone number of a shop in Milford that builds race cars. Otherwise I would bet that EPE in Framingham could help you out. If your interested in looking (and sitting) in the Firza, give me a shout, I'm only a few miles from you.

Might need to give this some more thought. Sucks wanting a car she's happy going on drives in, and that I don't have to worry about having to change when I'm doing track stuff.

I had the same experience in my 72, the seat was too upright and too high in the car with the factory brackets. With the factory bracket and a helmet on it felt as if the seat headrest was pushing my head forward. I made new brackets from flatbar and re-used the sliders. The rear seat mount is almost 3" lower than the front. Don't waste your money on the factory bracket.

The stock Corbeau brackets are a joke. If you knew someone with a welder, you could build your own for under $20.
I should have saved my money and bought Recaro's |

I used the Corbeau bracket on the driver’s side and shimmed the front of the seat up about 1 inch. I fixed the passengers seat. I need adjustments because my kids and I autocross and move the seat. I find the Forza to be reasonably comfortable but improved with the addition of a lumbar pillow (I used an airline pillow). Once I get moving, driving the car is such a trip that I forget about the seat! They are also easy to get in and out of, yet have good laterial support.
