Restoration Shop Recommendations Near Texas
I am looking for some recommendation for Porsche restoration shops not too, too far from me. I am in San Antonio, Texas, but am willing to ship the care basically anywhere. I have a 1976 911S Targa with original US factory air, It is a mod, having a slopenose and whale tail, etc. I do not want to take it back to original, but it does need some engine work and a fair amount of interior restoration. I have had the car since 1992, and just want to make it as nice as I can again. Any idea who might do a great job on it? I am not having any luck locally.

I would have Warren at Rennsport in Sealy TX do your engine and then find a good upholstery shop to do your interior. Warren might have some suggestions. Warren is a very competent engine builder and very trustworthy.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will hold onto Warren's name, but the major part of the job is interior (more than just upholstery).

Thanks for the recommendation. I will save his name, but the interior work is the main part I am hoping to get done. Not just upholstery, BTW.

Einars is here in Houston. Big supporter of the local P-car community.

Thanks. I will give them a call. I actually spoke to them several years ago, but they were not taking any new restoration work at that time.

All located in the broader Houston area:
1. Mechanical/Engine: Rennsport (Sealy) or Einar's (Houston). Have used both, both are excellent. 2. Interior/Upholstery: Cy-Fair Upholstery and Glass (NW Houston). Used them to redo seats, consoles, interior work, etc. Interesting personalities, but quality work. 3. Body: Ben's Body Works (Spring, TX). Have used for over 15 years with great results. Slow, but meticulous and well done. Have seen quite a few Porsche 911 resto's in there over the years. Good luck. |

If you are considering shipping Mayo's in the Dallas area is very good.

I have never used Mayo's personally but a good friend with an extensive collection has a LOT of work done there.
