915 gear oil change interval - low miles

Have searched with no definitive answer outside of maybe one or two opinions I could find to match my situation.

Easy one - Swepco 201 in my 915 since 2012. Maybe 8k miles on it; 99% of it pleasure driving only. Need to change based on time (5.5 years) or just fine?

I know many will say just do it anyway but is it really needed? Last time I drained it after 3 years, I sat there feeling like an idiot watching what looked like brand new fluid pour out. Some light grit on magnetic plug but surprisingly minimal. Trans rebuilt in 2005/2006.

Any compelling reason to change? If not, i assume at next major service (15 k miles from last one)...

Thanks.

My thoughts are as there are no products of combustion fouling the oil so time is less of a concern. I would go for the recommended mileage interval. Lets see what others chime in with.

I feel your pain but all oil breaks down regardless of how it looks. I changed my race cars oil every other track weekend (transmission twice a year) and I swear it was still as clear as new. You can certainly give someone like Blackstone a sample of new and what you drain out to compare, then decide by that when to do your next change.. but for the cost and what a 915 rebuild costs it's a no-brainer to me after 6 years, change it.

After 5 years, I think it is cheap to change it.

if you look in Porsche book it is said trany oil oil change every 30 000 miles and that was regular 90 way oil. Swepco will last you longer.I have it in my trany oil since 2008 and I`m confident it is still perfect...
