Underhood option code sticker

My car was repainted about 10 years ago by the PO.

The option code sticker that goes on the underside of the luggage trunk is missing.

Can someone confirm, if the one in the Owners Manual is exactly the same size and has the same information as the missing trunk sticker?

If it is the same,is it a viable option the photocopy it from the Owners Manual and attach it to the underside of the trunk?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Geoff.

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the hood sticker??

The one in my handbook is 3.5" x 2".

If the hood sticker is a different size or has different information on it, then I will leave the hood without a sticker.

I'm just trying to establish what the hood sticker is like.

Cheers,

Geoff.

Geoff in my ROW 89 Carrera the sticker is 3.5 inches by 3 inches in the handbook as well as on the underside of the hood. One problem though, by checking this out for you I noticed that all the numbers on the two stickers aren't the same which is a bit of a worry. I have recently obtained an ownership certificate from Porsche which agrees with the handbook dates etc but the main numbers on the handbook sticker don't match the sticker under the hood which matches the chassis number. The option codes do agree on both though.

Anyone out there have ant ideas on this?

My underhood sticker (86 US Carrera) is just under 3.5" by 2 1/8". It contains similar info to the sticker in the manual, but in a different format/layout. Here are pictures of both...

I was able to find a pic of a 1989 underbonnet sticker....

It appears to be a different format from the owners manual.

Cheers,

Geoff.

saintz, frrom what i understand it wasn't unusual for ROW cars to have some differences in the VIN, however, I'm not certain about the options codes, my assumption is they should match?

The ROW cars should have the last 5 digits of the VIN match between the VIL (Vehicle Information Label) and the actual VIN on either the door jamb plate sticker (depending on year) and the VIN tag on "A" pillar or windshield/dash area as well as the raised stamp VIN in the luggage compartment just above the spare tire.

If the last 5 digits match you should be fine, if this sequence is different you should investigate further.

I'm using a template.

I've working very hard in 2 different software programmes to do it.

When someone ask for a sticker, I need all the data. If you don't have the maintenance record booklet sticker, there are some things that I need as VIN , color, interior, MY, type, engine, transmission and optionals.

I send the sticker to the owner in an envelope.

If he’s not making them, you can get these stickers (and many more) from CarBone in Poland.
