1987 Stock steering wheel

I’m interested in changing over my Momo steering wheel to the stock steering wheel which I believe would have been a 4 spoke for my 1987 930. Would a 4 spoke from an 1986 911 be the same wheel? I’d like to buy used and then have recovered by Dallas Steering Wheels.

Thanks!

Yes, 85-89 all used the same wheel. Only differences were standard vs. extended hub and color.

I'm curious about Dallas Steering Wheel -

My 86 4 spoke leather is significantly worn and is coming unthreaded... I purchased a recovering kit from Alan Gun - it is a decent kit but my sewing skills suck...

I've checked with a recommended car upholstery guy locally and he isn't interested in a one off small job

Is there a recommended place to ship the wheel off to have recovered? Is Dallas a good place? I'm not really keen on sending my wheel off to someone else - but if that is what I have to do, I guess I'll go that route ...

I think I talked to him the other day. Great guy. Appreciate all the feedback.

They recovered my very worn steering wheel. It looks like the factory just delivered it. Perfect color match, and stitching. And many miles and years later, it still looks great.

The steering wheel is the direct connection to thee car, that is always in your hands, and right in front of you and always in view.

Anyone know the part number or availability for the section highlighted in red which engages the splines on the steering column?

The hub does not have a separate part number. To the best of my knowledge, it was never available separately (from the the rest of the steering wheel assembly). That being said, I've seen that part, disassembled from the wheel, come up for sale once, maybe twice, here in the past ten years.

I really like the '85 - '89 four spoke steering wheel. The grip diameter is a little on the thin side nowadays, so a great stealth mod, that I've done 4-5 times now, is to have the steering wheel double wrapped, which thickens the grip so as to modernize the feel, but keep the stock look...

It isn't so over the top thick as some steering wheels in recent years, but more of a "just right" Goldilocks wheel to my hands...

I recently had Dallas redo my 88 Carrera 4 spoke steering wheel with the thick grip. I found a black extended hub wheel, had Dallas recover in burgundy to match OEM and spray painted the extended hub to match. I love both the extended hub and thicker grip. This is the 2nd steering wheel Dallas has done and I was pleased with both. Donald turned them both around in a week and they were packed securely. I recommend them.

Talked to them about a week or two ago and they indicated pricing starts at $500.
