What is header collector diameter?
I know the primaries for headers can be 1.5", 1.625", or 1.75".
What is the ID of the collector portion of most headers? (i.e., the ID of the part that bolts to the muffler)... 2" 2.25", 2.5" Thanks, Karl |

Alright... so if I am going to look at a muffler such as those offered by Coast Fabrication or Burns Stainless...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/final429kme.jpg Should I go with one that has a 2.0" inlet, 2.25" inlet, or 2.5" inlet? I, of course will have to weld a flange to it to mount to the headers... The Coat fab mufflers offer a larger exit diameter as well (i.e., 2.5" inlet diameter, and a 3" outlet diameter). Any advantage/disadvantage to something like that? |
I used 2.5" OD ss tube going into 2.5" ID muffler can inlets for a slip fit. The ss tube serves as an extension of the collector.

get a muffler with an inlet dia that equals or exceeds the dia of the collectors you have. 2.5" should be fine.
