MFI Cam Seal Choice
I know that there are several existing threads on replacing MFI cam seals but I think I have a specific question:
What type (brand, material, etc.) seal have you used with success? I pulled the existing seal which has obviously been in there for quite awhile. It's hard and cracked so no surprise it leaked like a sieve! So now in front of me I have three new 35/47/7 options to choose from. One is an Elring brand which is kind of an orange color, there's a dark green no name and a no name FKM (Viton) which is dark brown. They all have a different lip design and some are stiffer when deflecting the lip. The Elring has an arrow indicating direction of rotation but the others don't. The Elring fits the shaft with the least friction the others are noticeably tighter. The condition of both the cam housing bore and camshaft boss looks fine. Any personal experience with what has worked and what hasn't? Am I overthinking this and should just close my eyes and pick one? Not a job I want to do often... Thanks for your insights.... |
