3.2 throttle switch adjustment?
I am working on a 3.2 that is lacking power.
Freshly rebuilt Motor Valve adjustment correct. Rebuilt ECU New DME New Tank New fuel pump New plugs New cap and rotor Tested fuel pressure -good I have no history with this car. I bought it in boxes and have been working to put it back together. I am questioning the Throttle switch. Adjustment? How can I test the Switch? How should it be adjusted? It has slotted screw holes so I am assuming that you rotate it but I cannot find anywhere to explain. The Idle switch does click. I beleive that the throttle switch effects the distributor through the DME? Any other ideas would be a great help. |

See image at end of this post for test and adjustment procedure on the full throttle switch.
The first thing I would check is to see that when you press the gas pedal all the way to the floor with your foot that the throttle butterfly valve actually opens all the way. You will need two people for this test. Mine was only opening to 60%, I got a huge boost of power when I adjusted. The adjustment is easiest to do at the throttle rod bell crank on the transmission. See this post for detail. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1153485-pulled-engine-my-84-targa-now-fun-begins-4.html#post12383270 Next thing I would consider is the fuel injectors, you might want to send them out for testing and cleaning. ![]() Last edited by ErrorMargin; 03-30-2025 at 05:40 PM.. |

Assuming yes, tell us more about the symptoms. Could you have a cylinder not firing? |

Consider calling him, and asking for help, since you spent money with him.

Do you have another 3.2 car for comparison?

I have not checked the fuel pressure while driving. Only in the garage idleing and reving. I own a 1985 as well and they are not on the same planet in terms of power.

Are you getting a good idle and smooth running, just low on power? Does it start right up?
Does your engine builder have any thoughts on the issue? Potential next steps: 1. Remove the plugs and see if any are fouled. Look for evidence that they are all firing well. 2. Get a wideband O2 sensor installed so you can see if you are getting a good mixture. |

You can use a timing light to compare the two ignition advance curves.

What did you test first and how did you conclude the harness is bad? This will be a big help to others that might have the same issue. |
