How to make parking light an additional blinker

Hi, so I am in the process of upgrading all of my 79 911sc lights to LEDs and sorting out a bunch of electrical gremlins that came up as I did the conversion. I think the PO had done some non-standard wiring and had flipped grounds, etc. I think I have it all good now but I wanted to do some non-standard wiring myself.

Does anyone have an easy way to make the US parking light blink with the blinker? The front US parking light is sort of useless, I was thinking of removing it and putting the rubber spacers in unless I can find a way to make it more functional and give a little lateral visibility to the turn signal.

It depends on what you consider easy I suppose.

Going off memory, which may not be the most reliable.

if you look at the running light/turn signal housing you will see the main feed coming in (3 wires) and you will also see a second plug coming out (2 wires).

this 2 wire plug should go to the side marker light and have a Br wire (ground) and Bl wire (+12V).

the 3 wire loom should have Br (ground),Gr/Re (running lights) and Bk/Gn or Bk/Wt (turn signals)

you would want to open up the running/turn assembly and disconnect the supply that goes out to the Bl wire from the Gr/Re coming in and reconnect it to the corresponding Bk/Gn or Bk/Wt wire for the turn signal.

I can't recall how the internals are wired on the running/turn assembly, so can't say how easy this swap is. if you want to post pics it would be much easier to help you determine where to break and make those connections.

This is what it looks like with the assembly taken out
I think the black wire that you’re referring to going to the running light is actually white in my case and the ground for their running light is also white, but it’s the lower one.

so it sounds like what you are saying is that I need to switch this white wire from the reg/grey to the black/white. Is that correct?

I added an extra wire from the turnsignal to the sidemarker to allow it to flash with the turnsignal. In the link I show step by step of what I did. My sidemarkers are LEDs that I make so they are sidemarkers (dim) with the capability to flash brightly. There's a video a couple of posts on from the posted link.

Sorry for the delayed reply, been out of town the last couple days.

Yes, this change you have drawn should accomplish what you want.
