				215/45/R17 & 225/40/R17 on an SC?

			Gents,

I picked up a set of 17" wheels from a member here about a week and a half ago. Mounted them last weekend. I really like the look but not sure if they're too large and will cause issues. I've only driven it twice and think I heard rubbing once from the rear but can't see any proof after inspecting. Anyone running this setup successfully? Pictures for reference. ![]()

What offset are the wheels? That's is a critical dimension to be able to evaluate fitment.

going by the above pic the rear ET is too low, this pushes the whole assembly ou too far in back 9ET15 or a little lower or 9.5ET19 is what you are looking for w/ a 245 or 255 tire

The offsets are: Offsets: 7.5: +35. 9: +16. Is there a tire I could make work on the rears with that offset? Appreciate all your knowledge.

first 225/50 x17 is a really oddball size, not many tires are available in that size second 9 ET16 even w/ 245/40 or 255/40 shouldn't stick out as far as it appears to third the front tires are ~1" taller than the rears, if those are indeed the correct sizes I Have 9.5ET19 w/ 255/40 on mine , tire front space is ~113mm, yours should be ~108mm, i.e based on the specs you should have ~5mm more clearance than I do. here's mine for comparison

![]() ![]() ![]() The tires are old, came with the wheels so I need to buy new ones regardless. Happy to accept your recommendations.

Are there spacers on the rear that may be pushing the wheels out further?

I’ll be honest, the ride feels noticeably smoother on our rough San Diego roads despite the tires being significantly older than the ones that were on my 16” wheels. Last year I changed out the stock setup with 22/27 TBs which was definitely more firm.

I'm going to raise the rear Monday, fortunately I installed some quick adjust spring plates, and go from there.

that makes a lot more sense I don't have the tire specs for General tires but a typical 225/40 on 9ET16 will have a tire f/s of ~114mm, stick out ~3mm more than mine, still looks like it's further out, as mine are completely in the wheel well. When you buy tires I'd use a 245/40 rear to match the 215/45 front, that also reduces the rear f/s to ~108mm the front should be well back in the wheel well
