sunroof sliders empty underside spaces
are there parts missing from the underside of these sliders, such as plastic plugs that would fit into the empty slots that would eliminate friction?

not the expert but I have never seen anything on the bottom of the slider pieces and I’m not even sure how they could be connected reliably. There really isn’t clearance for much of anything.
The straight guides and cables have very low friction in the scheme of things. (barring late cables in early guide issues) in my (albeit limited) experience: - getting the cables through the bends in the tube smoothly is the tricky part - if your headliner gets stuck along the track anywhere that can be tough. - the wind deflector supports need to be able to fit down easily into their slots to get out of the way - the plastic bits on the leading edge of the sunroof need to be in good shape to slide right over the wind deflector supports and push them down. - any amount of friction over X will just stop the assembly from moving due to slip in the gearbox (a safety thing, to keep the sunroof from pinching fingers I suppose) is there a specific issue you’re running into or just a general Q? |
