Child seats for 911

Anyone have any ideas on car seats for kids that fit rear facing in a 911. It does not have to be porsche just safe.

nothing will fit in the rear seat, most child seat can fit the front seat, best thing is to bring the car to Baby R Us and ask them if you could try out a seat in the car before buying.

Or do like all the new mommy and daddy get a suv to carry the baby.

Rear facing is tough - I don't think any one has ever posted on one that fits in the rear seats. I'd think almost any one will fit in the front.

Do a search, though - this topic comes up periodically and all us married dad types come out of the woodwork to rant, enthuse, and opine.

Actually you can get a seat in the back.

This is what I have in my 84.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000067QUK/qid=1057297451/br=1-5/ref=br_lf_ba_5//103-2395107-9062242?v=glance&s=baby&n=542450

It is forward facing.

The dealer also sells a child seat for the Boxster which should fit.

Also worth checking that your seat belts will go around a rear facing seat. Mine didn't. I had the front passenger belt replaced with a longer one.
If you have air bags then get them disconnected as well.

Most rear facing seats need three point inertia reel belts.
Does your car have these? If so then the best bet is to try some out if possible.

Over here its pretty easy as most of the motor facotrs and kids stores will let you try them out for fit before you buy.

I tried my seat in the front and, as Big Mac says, the belt was not long enough...even with the front seat all the way back.
There was no chance of it fitting in the rear seats at all. No belts at the moment.

Now however he loves the P-car, sits in the front facong seat in the front and mom has to take her car.......

First thanks for all the help. I currently have a couple of SUVs and then the 2 porsches but When the family wants to go out for a nice sunday drive it would be nice to use the 911 since the 914-6 is out of the question. I have 1 seat that fits excellent in the back seat for my 2 1/2 year old but I have a 7 month old that needs to be rear facing until 1. He does meet the weight requirments for front facing but not age. I have found the 1 seat currently in thereis great but requires the child to be at least 30 lbs. My youngest is only 20 lbs. The major problem is that nothing fits well in the bucket except the seat I have currently in there for my 2 1/2 year old. any other suggestions

Ben

How about a Cayenne? No special seat required. And the entire family can take that Sunday drive in a P car.

I don't think I could sneak that by the wife. A little pricey for my blood. I will figure something out or wait until my youngest is old enough.

Consider yourself lucky, my wife wouldn't even think of riding in my car, says its not safe for the kid and won't discuss it further. I suppose the good thing is she doesn't tell me to slow down

The 911 is really my wifes car that she drives 90% of the time. Mine is the 914-6. I am blessed for her being intrested also.

You're so lucky, my wife (and rest of the family) have no interest in my Porsche. I have to sneak a few minutes to work on it when I can.

Scott,

How tightly does that seat fit in the back of your 84?

I have an 82, and I can get the simpler forward-facing seats in there, but I have never been happy with how tight they fit. In other cars, the seat cushions provide most of the tension, but the 911 rear seats don't have enough padding, I think. It also feels like the bottom of the seat wants to slide forward, which I don't like. I have simple lap belts in the rear, too, which are hard to tighten.
