Question CIS Fuel line ? on a '78

A buddy at work has a '78 with a bad fuel leak. He says it seems like it is this hose

another view

which comes out of the fuel accumulator, but this site lists that hose as only '80 and up, and assuming I had access to a parts program with exploded views it would also say it was an '80 and up part even if I was looking at a diagram for a '78.

Does anyone know what the deal with this line is??

Thanks,

Can't tell for sure but I think I had a fuel leak with the same hose. Do a search on my user name for some pictures. I recrimped the hose and the leak has stopped and has not returned. Scary place for a leak though as it dumps fuel onto the engine tin right above the heat exchangers and next to the spark plugs.

Here is the thread
HELP.... Have a fuel leak, how do I fix it

Thanks, I think you are in the right spot. That's why I love this board.

I had the seame problem on my '77. The fuel line into the accumulator sprung several pinholes leaks.

I tried to buy the replacement line from our host but there was a mix up and so I got if from my local Porsche dealer, about $60.

Changing it is a real opportunity to get to know your car. (Thanks to John Walker for his help.) You have to support the engine & tranny, take off the sway bar and transmission mounts. Then you can get to the connection. I believe the supply line is on the passengers side of the car.

Watch out for gas running out of the tank.

For my saga do a search for Major fuel leak

Frank
