Valve Cover and Crossover Pipe Conflict 1980sc
I don't know why but my crossover pipe prevents me from removing my left side valve cover.
Did the pipe warp ? Only way to remove it is to remove the studs as well as the nuts that hold down the valve cover. Is this common ? Thanks in advance. ![]() ![]()

![]() This is Abbie Normal. ![]() Could be warped, but also could be assembled wrong. Check to see if the pipe can be removed, rotated and reattached or there is a gap at the connection on the other end that would cause it to appear bent. Let us know what you find.

Apparently it is time for SSI's and backdated heat, no problem with a crossover pipe again!

I did have an exhaust leak where the cat met the cross over pipe…...maybe that had something to do with it. Thanks for checking in. ![]()

How I solved the problem…..
My exhaust leak at the cat crossover pipe caused the crossover pipe to warp and it trapped the valve cover closed on the left side or drivers side.
So i removed the pre muffler and stuck a pipe into the crossover pipe and gently bent it back so it no longer was up against the valve cover. Had me scratching my head there for awhile but when in doubt a Big Pipe or Hammer in small doses gets the job done. Now I will go crawl back under the car for the rest of the weekend. ![]() ![]()

Glad to hear you got it. Those pipes are a b#tch to get hooked up right. Bet those bolts will loosen up once they get hot. Make sure to check after your first few drives. That will help provide a tighter fit.

Had the same issue with my 80SC.... Ended up just dropping the headers to solve.... But the pipe to bend it as a solution is a great one...

can a one piece crossover pipe be pulled out and replaced after removing all the attached nuts? I have a 84 911 Carrera.
