Spintech mufflers?
Has anyone on here tried a spintech muffler? Would like to hear one on a air cooled 911.

I have not heard of them.
It's not one of those fad companies which places spinning things in the exhaust is it?

Their website is: http://www.spintechmufflers.com/
It appears that the muffler is using turbulence to muffle the exhaust. I have never seen a muffler using this tact to reduce sound. The price seems to be rather restrained which is nice. The question is which models lend themselves to use in a 911 and what does it sound like?

The cool thing is you can build your own on there too. Exactly to your needs, for 120.00. Thats a great price. They also seem to be compact enough to fit them between the engine and body.

This one has mufflers with little spinning thingies in them. I think it sounds pretty good.

I know they offer several designs chambered and non chambered. Although, I have only heard a 3.2 with a cat bypass with a single in single out chambered Spintech, it sounded very similar to a chambered Flowmaster. Being that the Spintechs do not have such a loyal following as other name brands, they seem to be quite a bit more expensive. That being said, I have seen limited model numbers listed on ebay for reasonable prices.
Here are a few posts. "It's not light or loud enough yet" Anyone know anything about these mufflers? On a side note, I have been happy with Magnaflow and if I remember correctly so have a few other Pelicans. Being that I like to tinker, I have recently purchased a Borla 400024 multi-core that I would like to experiment with. On paper, this particular muffler seems to offer the best of both worlds in regards to straight through flow and a significant reduction in noise when compared to other straight through designs. We'll soon see when I have the opportunity to test it out. Here is a pic. for reference. ![]() Regards, John |

So many things to think about with mufflers. One is how do they sound, second is how much HP do the cost. Below is a dyno run of a late 911SC track car with headers and straight thru glass packs on the end of headers. We dynoed the car could not believe how little power it made. We convinced the owner to pull the glass packs. The were of a design similar to this, straight thru:
![]() apparently those bump outs into the exhaust stream really hurt below is the with and without glass packs. ![]() This muffler cost 13HP and 11lb ft of torque on a motor that only made 159HP and 150Ft/lbs on straight pipe, so about 10% loss. john |

You run glass packs with the scoops pointed the opposite direction. Huge difference...

Wich way were the scoops pointing??? If the air was entering from the cameras point of view in that pic, yea, I can see how that would cost power. But the opposite direction ...? it would shock me to see such huge (10%) losses.

They were pointing as pictured towards the headers. The owner could not believe it would make that much difference as it was a straight shot. I usually try and do before and after dynos of modifications to figure out what works. Some of the information accepted to be facts of what works on these engines I have found to be not true.

Hanging protrusions like those into the airstream causes a lot of turbulence. 13 hp is a lot, but it's not shocking.

7000 Cruiser SpinTech Stainless
Putting a set a 7000 Cruiser SpinTech Stainless mufflers on my Beck 904 GTS. I chose them mainly for their low-profile design and increased sound deadening with the 7000 series. A few of the Cobra guys use these with great success. TT exhaust in England will fab up the collectors and gun tips in Stainless so I can install them as a unit. This will be a 3.2 SS/901 configuration.
