I dont know....maybe "Boomser".... A girlfriend of mine once told me that "Boomser" means F-cker in German. JK...

Maybe "Lucille" or something like that would be more PC. Thats what BB King names all of his guitars.

Since Im a musician and music fan...maybe something like "Amadeus", "Miles", "Trane" or "Ringo" would work.

vesnyder 07-08-2003 12:32 PM

This thread made me think about it, and I am going to name it MATRIX! It is triple black and is my escape from reality.

cegerer 07-08-2003 12:36 PM

The Gray Wolf - a friend called it that the first time he saw/heard it and it seemed like the perfect name. It's the first car I've owned with a name! Well, other than a series of beaters that were all named "The Winter Rat". -- Curt

philfran 07-08-2003 12:45 PM

I hate to say it but mine is named "poodle". As in "I see you drove the Poodle Car today!"

The guys at work put a front plate on my SC that was hot pink with a white poodle and the words Frenchie (my last name is French.

Sadly, the name has stuck.

Mikkel 07-08-2003 12:45 PM

I never really named mine, but it has different names anyway. Mostly depends on my mood, which again depends on how the car is running :p

I always respect people who have energy and decency to be good to animals.

Christine, because I know it's possessed like the old Plymouth in the movie

jhugh 07-08-2003 12:55 PM

My wife christened it "The Grumbler" after I installed a B&B muffler. Even though the B&B is gone (replaced by superior Dansk), it's still called "The Grumbler." No matter what else I try to call it, only that sticks.

zymurgist 07-08-2003 12:56 PM

I named my 911 "Max." There were a couple of reasons behind this... first of all, it's Glacier Blue, a color very similar to the color of the Pour le Merite, the highest German military decoration, also known as "The Blue Max." It has a wheel well mounted oil cooler with an air duct dangling below the car... a puckish friend said that this dangling appendage defined it as a boy car, and that "Max" was a perfect name!

After I bought it and drove it home, and began to learn the proper technique for shifting a 915 transmission, I decided that maybe "Max" wasn't quite what I had expected. You have to use a gentle touch to get what you want, and you have to adjust your style accordingly, so I think "Max" is really just a nickname for "Maxine."

Of course, under hard acceleration, "Max" becomes "Max Power!"

And then there's the Orange Shark, my perennial Corvette project... she's definitely a female, if you know the shape of a C3 Vette, you'll understand... anyway, I have taken to calling her "The Other Woman" since she consumes all of my money.

My '98 Neon R/T is named "Mojo" but I don't really remember why. Seemed like a good idea at the time, I suppose.

Other former cars with names were the "Silver Bird" (a silver '77 Firebird V8) and "Brigitte" (a silver '75 BMW 530i)... my '73 Celica and '90 Escort never really got names except when I was really torqued off at them.

The 356 is the least money sucker of the three. Start with a rusty POS and start cutting and welding....you too can have a 356 Speedster.

At least this one started as a Porsche, not some Fiero.....:p

Sometimes I refer to it as "the Superbeetle", but all the neighbors call it "Les' Porsche" as its the only P car for 30 miles.

Tristezza, means sadness in Italian. Why? Because she's blue and the first time I saw her she looked so lonely, desolate and in need of love. I call my mini Jimmy.

901/05 07-08-2003 03:27 PM

I call mine "the p car" and people generally laugh at me. Maybe they think I wet the seat.:D

Shawn.

beepbeep 07-08-2003 03:52 PM

"Brunte" , which is typical old name for swedish horse...

Blackcab 07-08-2003 04:20 PM

For some reason, I cannot figure out if my two month old black cabriolet is a guy or girl. This has been bugging me. Maybe its bi? HA. For some strange reason my six year old son has been calling it the black wolf. We were in a store parking lot when a classmate was there with his dad. As we're sitting in the car, my son yells out as loud as he can to his friend that his dad has a race car and it's name is the black wolf. I hid below the dash board for ten minutes.

My first car was a '72 fiat spyder. My friends and I named it L'il Boot, because we would go out drinking in it all night long and puke (boot) in it!

Bill Douglas 07-08-2003 04:56 PM

Mine's called Batfink.

Schrup 07-08-2003 05:01 PM

I named my car Barbara for no paticular reason. I got to pick my sons first name ( I won the bet ) & I named him Maxwell for the no reason. It drove my wife crazy at first, she felt alot of thought & consideration should be involved in my decision. I love my sons name but I may change my cars name to Schotzie because I have become so fond of her. :p

esther 07-08-2003 05:23 PM

Penny is our 930 - P for Porsche and she cost a pretty penny... :)

82SC 07-08-2003 05:29 PM

"Lil SOB"

Signal
Orange
Bastard

Signal Orange for obvious reasons...

Bastard since it will be a compilation of ideas from all over...73 chassis, SC suspension, 69 soft rear targa....maybe go green faces in modern guages...

Plus Little and Bastard pays hommage to James Dean's 550 one of my all time favorite cars "Lil Bastard"

SOB for obvious reasons...

John Harmon 07-08-2003 05:42 PM

I named my sepia brown 73 t "steamer" after a fresh cow pie that so resembles my 911 in shape and color.

s2per 07-08-2003 06:26 PM

Of the four P-cars I've owned:

#1 '75 911S "Lacey"-- the previous owner installed those tacky lace scrolls at the corners of the hood and trunk and CLEARCOATED over them. Paint job cured the lapse of taste.

#2 '85 Carrera "Lilly" --as in von Schtupp and because she was white

#3 '98 Boxster "Nina" --as in van Horne; super model looks with a questionable past

#4 '81 911SC "Vera" --as in "vier" the 4th German girl

emarsh 07-08-2003 07:07 PM

Minerva cause she is Minerva blue and is both a warrior and thing of art.

RLJ 07-08-2003 07:48 PM

Hummmmm....

When she was Nutmeg Metalic Brown it was the Turd or the Toad depening on her attitude changing mine.

Now that she is Iris Blue Metalic we started calling her Iris. Hey she is the only "Iris" around here, O.K.

PWD72S calls her the slut, his Green car is the virgin and my car is well.....as far the other way as his is virgin.

Rod911 07-08-2003 11:10 PM

Mine is called 'Pufje'.

That's how my 3 year old son calls the car when he tries to say Porsche.
It was the first car brand name he ever tried to pronounce, so I guess this name will stick.

ricwon 07-09-2003 12:27 AM

since i have a carrera, it's tia. you know..... wayne's world.....schwing

TigerTrash 07-09-2003 11:29 AM

actually the wifey named mine PACO

stands for: Piece A Crap O'

It got this name after coming out of the shop for SSI's, Tranny rebuild, and updated tensioners. I took it to a party at a friends house and parked it at the end of the driveway blocking all the other cars in and the transmission got stuck between two gears and would not move. I was the friggin hit of the party when everyone had to drive across the host's grass to get out. About a week later I got the bank statement and the wife asked what the $6000.00 charge was for and I told her it was for the porsche.
She was a little(yeah right) upset about the fact that I spent that much on "that piece of crap"

Although I have healed relations with all people involved and the car has never run or looked better the name still sticks.

I do like MATRIX though......hmmmmmmmm

MEREDITH, after my wife...

1. She's racy
2. She has a great ass
3. She is high maintenance

JonT 07-09-2003 12:27 PM

since the 3.6 implant I've been calling the beast "Damien". anything demonic comes to mind since it makes me do evil things

Mikkel 07-09-2003 12:30 PM

Someone mentioned "Superbeetle". That's what collegues and other envious people often call my 911. Sometimes they also call it "røvskubber" which translates (badly) to "arse pusher". Don't know how else to translate it

My mother sometimes call it "larmepotten" which translates to "the noise banger".

Absolutely....

I used to refer to mine as "stink bug" before the photo lab gang renamed it.

Dave Ploss 07-09-2003 05:32 PM

My black 87 is the tarantula. This is froma Dick Van Dyke show where he bought a british sports car and named it the same. it was one of the funniest shows I've seen.

My wife saw the show last year and agreed...the tarantula was it.

I usually refer to mine as "The P Wagon", or, when I am feeling particularly German, as "Das P Vagen".

makaio 07-09-2003 08:30 PM

The SC: Rennwagon, since it's my wannabe race car.

The CAB: Sparky, the Red Dragon. Since Chuck named it Sparky back when he owned it, and you can't just go changing someones name. The Red Dragon part, because my wife says I'm like Will Ferral(Hank The Tank) in the movie "Old School" out in the driveway working on it.

banjomike 07-09-2003 09:22 PM

Who needs a name, I can't get over how cool it is just to say, "lets take the 911."
