What did you name your 911 and why?
Just curios. Some people do, some people don't. I will go first.
My car has been named "The Red Queen". A dash of "Alice in wonderland", A serving of "Resident Evil", and a touch of "The Animatrix". When I look at my car she just seems a little sinister. In a good way...:D |
Gutzeit. It means "goodtime" in german.
|
Evilgrin
Everyone talks about the front bumper smile. I think it looks a little evil grin :) |
i NAMED IT "GIL"... AFTER A BIRD i NAMED THAT i HAD TO NURSE BACK TO HEALTH AFTER I HIT IT WITH THE 911....

By default, as it's the only one in our extended family, my car is known as "THE PORSH" (or "DAD'S PORSCH", "JERRY'S PORSH", "UNCLE JERRY'S PORSH"). Even my little three-year-old neice knows that car is "UNCA JERWY'S PORSH". Besides, my wife is better at naming cars than I am, the best one's were years ago when, thanks to her, our Coupe de Ville was known by all as "BIG MOMMA CADDY" and the, rather well-used, van I had was "THE SCUD"; I think she's still working on something for the Volvo.
Jerry M '78 SC |
I name all my sports cars - they are members of the family and each have their own personality.
|
The old 3.2 Carrera was the "Demon". It glowed red at night and shot 4 foot blue flames, so it was pretty much evil.
Now I have two '72T Coupes. One is being built as a stock roadgoing car; the other is being built as a hotrod. Considering the shared lineage but grossly different personalities, they have been dubbed "Jekyll and Hyde". Although, as a counterpoint, "Ferrous and Oxide" was also suggested. |
Brünhilde. She's a fat lady, and she's got one hell of a set of pipes!
|
Bernie.
Actually, it should be Burnie. I bought the car at an insurance auction after if had an engine fire. Burnie seems much happier with a 3.2. After my first autocross with it, I was heard calling it the "tail happy beast". |
Moneypit.
|
Mine is currently named the Flying Turd since it's sepia brown, is a total mess from bumper to bumper but is incredibly quick.
When she becomes nice after a full engine rebuild and new interior she'll get a new nickname. Probably something like Milk chocolate but it depends all on her personality. |
I have a 'Pepe' and 'The Death Sled'. Pepe just kinda stuck on the '72 one day...probably after I bought the turbo. Somehow I had to differentiate between the two. The turbo has had a few names. Squatty for a while...but that just didn't fit its personality.
|
The toad. It's green and has a lot of warts.
|
I named my girl "Serene" since it such serenity to get behind the wheel and fly.
|
My wife named mine for me. "The Mistress" 'Nuff said.
|
Named mine "Project Moneysuck"
|
Dubbed her "Phoenix" after she rose again from the ashes of an engine fire.
Though "Project Moneysuck" would alsp be apropos. |
Rostwanne
|
Bluvudu (Blue VooDoo)-- she's ice blue and from louisiana
|
Iris b/c her color is Iris Blau - not too creative I guess.
|
Mine got named for me, by Pelican's Early_S_Man, in this thread.
|
I named mine Hans after Hans Stuck. I know that now days Hans is known for his BMW drives, but I remember him as a Porsche GTP driver. The real reason is that he put on on seriously inspiring drive in the rain at the 12 Hours of Sebring with one of Champion's turbos in the mid 90s. He was flying, one handed, while wiping the fog from the windshield with the other hand. If I remember right, his lap times were quicker than the WSC cars. That was cool. Plus he yodels and my car does a pretty good yodel. ;)
|
Needed German-ish names....so
Viper green RS replica became Kermie (ala Muppets and greenish amphibian) and the 75 US Carrera became Rudi (named after my favorite German restaurant at the time, Rudi Lechners). auf weidersehen:cool: :D |
The Red Sled
I kept showing up at a local photo lab in the snow, clearing another two inches after the other cars had gone by. The girls gave me a post card of Santa in a cabrio turbo bodied sleigh. |
Wolfgang 4 after it's predecessor, an "81 Scirocco( my 3rd) Wolfgang 3.
Hey, it's a good German name. |
One is Biche because of the numberplate. The other was named Cappucino by my ex because she said it was the colour of a Cappucino. I never understood as the car is seal gray.

Simple "The Porsche" as in honey, can we take The Porsche? Around here I call her (the car) Black Bird becasue she's black, has the general Yellow Bird style and flys.
|
I don't have a name for mine, but a friend calls it the "Orange Dung Beetle". I always thought that was insightful.
Mike |
my double black carrera is named naomi since the first week of ownership (approximately three years ago). There was a brief stint where the car was male and named darth (as in vader) but it didn’t stick because i knew the car was a woman all along. Naomi came about after I decided that the car was black, beautiful, highly desireable, and timeless. Then again, the car was fussy, required a ton of attention, cost a ton of money to keep happy, smoked excessively from time to time and acted up with alarming frequency. I figured it’s kinda like dating a supermodel, hence, Naomi (Campbell).
|
"My Hot Ride"......Well..because it is hot. ;) ;)
and "My Bug Eyed Baby".....as I like to say...."I love my little fat bug eyed baby." :) |

I always thought your were talking about Spanky.;) |
We name all the cars....
911 = "BK" Black Knight 914 = Betty my wife and daughter came up with that one BMW = Bruno ML320 = Mario Saab = Kemo (Kemo Saabe) |
Shawn...That is funny..:)..I keep forgetting how much the porsche & my stocky dogs look alike.
|
My 911 is named "Helga". She just seems like a Helga and my wife and kids agree. My 1985 VW Westfalia was named Gretchen and that name fit too! I wanted to name the 911 "Schatzi", but the family didn't agree...
|
Oh I forgot my G-50 Cab is Named Neva (as in Carolyn's German great aunt)
The Alfa was Rosa. The San Juan 24 is Tweety The Pursuit is "Speedy" as in Gonzalez The MDX - Gracie The Montero = Monty The kids call the Porsche the "Cool Car" - so I guess she really has two names... |
The 3.0 powered 914/6 was the "Rocket".......
The 3.6 powered 911 SC has always been "The Cab".....guess because there weren't that many SC cabriolets.... When I am done with the 356,,,,probably call it the "Lil Cab".....cause the roof will be coming off after the pan repair and when I convert it to a Speedster ........ |
