Putty/sealant under fixed quarter window moulding
Hi all,
I found two types of putty/sealant under the trim moulding and the rubber seal that surrounds the fixed rear quarter windows. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1753207152.jpg This flat, grey "butyl" strip is available from our host: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/00004312900.htm?pn=000-043-129-00-M2258&bc=c&SVSVSI=0563 The other is this black, malleable, tar-like stuff that has been liberally applied under and around the moulding. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1753207175.jpg I'm hoping someone can tell me a name and source for this? Thanks for any help. |
Is that not dum dum?

Thanks, I wondered if that might be it. According to Google, they stopped making it in 2010 due to it containing a banned substance. Apparently, there are a few products that might be used instead, so it anyone here has used a suitable replacement, please let me know. |
Having just redone this area of my car, the gray tape putty in the first picture looks factory. It can be bought in a lol, and is used there, and also between the front fender to the body. The black…….that I ahve not seen in any PET etc. Also not seen in on the 3 911’s I ahve seen come apart as my car was being worked on. Might have been an after market fix.

My apologies, guys. I usually search the forum before posting questions but for some reason I didn't do that today. Otherwise, I would have found these two posts that address what I'm looking for:
