What To Use To Replace Black "Putty" Material?

Restoring an 84 911 Coupe. During teardown, I've come across a black "putty" type material in a couple of places used as a sealer (i.e. front window frame to body, corners where the short and long engine compartment seals meet, etc). It's a similar type material as the Terostat Ribbon, but black instead of gray. What is the best product to use today to replace the black "putty"? Does 3M make a suitable replacement?

Thanks for your feedback!

Looks like Prestite tape used for AC insulation.

The box of that 3M stuff will last your lifetime. It's a little different than what the factory used (but close enough) and it does leave some residue. But it works great for sealing

Napa Glass Setting Butyl Tape

Cabmando told me that the old school body shop dudes call it "dum-dum putty".

If you are looking locally - Napa carries a butyl tape that I've recently used for sealing various window / body gaps (bought it to reinstall my driver's & passenger quarter windows / frames).

The Napa part # is MS 4196 - agree, that a 20' roll (or similar) will last a lifetime - but once you get started using it, you will find more applications (I've been sealing small body holes and such with the stuff).
