The Next Project - Bringing our 84 Carrera back to life.
Ahoy from George and Evie! We’re sailors and know too much about boats but not nearly enough about our car.
She’s a 1984 Carrera with some history…an old track car that was rejuvenated for street driving. We’ve owned the car for quite a few years and she worked great until we went sailing. After sitting in the garage for a few years, she no longer starts and has no spark. Here’s what we’ve checked so far:
Any help on what to check next would be greatly appreciated. I hope to continue to post info about the issue as we keep researching/troubleshooting. George and Evie Here is the car: ![]() ![]() Last edited by clinerg; 08-03-2025 at 01:16 PM.. |

Both sensors should be around 1000. Replace the low one. Maybe both, while you're in there. Does it have the updated two terminal head temp sensor?

So I disconnected both sensors where they connect to the mounting bracket. The male end of the speed sensor just crumbled when I disconnected it. It’s the side that leads forward to the DME(?). I can’t find a part number for the portion that goes to the DME.
