Gear linkage Coupling bushes replacement

Hi all, looking for a little advice - we are rebuilding a 912E and discovered there’s no rubber bushings in the gear linkage coupling. I see the 2 x rubber bushes are sold separately- can anyone explain how these are fitted?

Rather than buying the bushings which will suffice but still have play, consider replacing the entire joint with the Wevo version: exponentially better action and precision.

The bushings shown are super cheap and easy to replace, as shown. Something like a Wevo PSJ will give you a better shifter feel but also cost a lot more.

Corrections: The plastic bushings have no play in them when correctly installed, in fact they are a little tight, which requires them to be pressed in with a vise or big pliers or some such.

Or put the bushings in the freezer and maybe warm up the coupler body, and they slide right in.

They may have "no play" when they're new, but the bushings WILL fail and potentially leave you stranded. IMO, you really should replace the coupler with a modern alternative, like the aforementioned Wevo/Stomski/Tarett unit.

This is what you're looking for:

This. There are much better options for that link.

Aftermarket is superior for this part.
