Double check the wire to the coil. Mine worked it's way off the coil. I've since heard of it happening to others. (It wrecks the coil wire when it does that.)

Thanks! Funny thing... the fresh valve job and the new wires have the car running considerably different. More refined in a way... smoother acceleration. The used to be a slight hesitation when punching it from a dead stop, now its not there anymore.
I noticed that the idle has dropped down to about 650-700 rpm where before it was over 800... would new wires do this? Its not a big deal...just wondering. |

Sonic,
I just replaced the old Bosch Beru wires in my car with Jacob's and the car runs much better! I never thought spark plug wires could make that much difference but now you and I both know how important they really are!!! Enjoy the car!!!

you are, once again, my hero On Sunday, I took a friend for a spirited ride to the super market in my '77. On the way home, it began intermittently cutting out, as if it was losing fire. It's sat in the garage ever since. Today, I read your post and it occurred to me that I should check for loose connections. Lo and behold, there was the coil wire, separated from the coil. You da man - thanks! mark |

Hi Mark,
What I meant to say is the Magnacore coil connector can back off or seem like it's fully on the coil when it isn't. What are you running for wires? -Chris

They look to be stock, but I think newer than '77.so - you're telling me I was right, but for the wrong reason?! mark |

Yes, I know what Chris is talking about. The coil connection as well as the "dizzy" connections of the Magnas are a little bit shallow and you have to make sure that they are on their tight. The plug end, is just fantastic though.

Good news, good news!
Glad to here everything is OK with you again. Just make sure you use some dielectric grease on the plug boots. |

Great news!
I've gotten behind on the board and was wondering about your status so did a search and found this thread. Pondering Magnecors for my 2bar+ quattros and the SC...sounds like a plan
