Middle console screws

Sorry for the new topic. Searching the forum for the middle console is difficult. Lots of stuff on the forward "center console". Not much on the middle heater/parking-brake "center console".

Anyway, here is a pointless question. As in, "Seriously, do you really care?"

My console has 2 screws on each side that do absolutely nothing. The plastic is all one piece. They don't hold anything together, and there's nothing else around. This is not any kind of modification. I'm certain this part is 100% original. But, the PET doesn't even show holes there.

What are these holes/screws/nuts for?

Good question.
Looking at parts breakdown and looking on Ebay etc. I decided those screws hold the printed circuit board and guard. Those four screws location indicates to me they are holding the circuit board away from the floor so air can circulate around the board.
Im going to assume you do not have any of the parts that are located inside the plastic housing.

on the earlier consul there was a controller that regulated the temperature in the cabin, it was held in place with those screws. Later model only has the fan speed regulator. The consuls are the same.

Yeah. I have the 4-position [off, 0-3] manual control knob and small board mounted to the posts around the top hole.

All G-type cars from the 70s and 80s had a temperature controller there if the automatic heater option was installed. There were only minor differences between earlier and later controllers. Later version had a different PCB with more modern components but the regulation principle was the same.
