Tribute to Le Mans

I noticed Speedchannel aka Nascarvision aired the show on Saturday morning. Did anybody else see it? Not sure if it had already been shown or not. I could never find it. Then I got a call from Steve Cross (4th place over-all) all frantic, "it's on." Anyway, very disappointing.
First, no coverage of me in the pitts Unless it was in the first 3 minutes which I missed.
Second, it was only a half hour! Huh, I think it was an hour coverage last year. For Pete's sake, it's a 4 hour race.
Third, they put music over the engine sounds! Now, I know many of the cars are club cars but they still sound GREAT! Better than some "cutting edge rock music."

But, it was nice that they pointed out that it is the only televised club event they show! Kinda cool. Anybody else see it, or see it before Saturday?

It's going to be re-run 3 more times, I think. The POC site lists them as:

JULY 13 @ 2:00 PM PDT
JULY 25 @ 6:30 PM PDT
JULY 25 @ 11:30 PM PDT

It's always both disappointing and encouraging. It's an event that deserves better coverage, but -- like you say -- Speed Channel generally ignores club racing.

...and there were about 10 minutes of commercials for every 15 minutes of coverage.

Still, it's very cool that it gets aired at all.

FWIW I think the version available thru the club is somewhat longer, and uninterupted by commercials. Obviously the camera car shot tons of footage, as they were out on track for a large proportion of the race, so perhaps that will be made available too at some point (?)

They showed your pits, allright..they showed the most interesting thing there! Anders! but darn he zipped his suit back up before the interview!

The first couple of minutes shown were the highlights of last year, but as every year the show goes by really quick. May who competed and all the pit crews were there for 4 days, so much is going on, and then it zips by on TV. You need to watch it a few times to pick out little things you missed the first time.

Yea, there were a lot of commercials! Although the music bugged me more. It's very sterile without the sounds of racing.

Yea, I was standing behind Anders when they interviewed him. As a matter of fact I had to find him for the interview. Definaltey would have been funny if he would have had his suit unzipped and around his waiste. Probably would have helped boost ratings from all of the ladies tuning in!

Maybe next year will be better. I'll have to check out the club version. I didn't know they offered one.
