Genuine Porsche parts
I ordered some swing arm bushings from another site and feel like I might have been shipped non-genuine Porsche parts. Nothing says Porsche on the packaging or the parts themself and one of the 4 bushings is not coated with the same yellow zinc coating on many P-car parts. The packaging is all different for each bushing as well.
Think I should return them? At over $60 each I sorta feel like they should be genuine and look the same.

I don’t think Genuine Porsche parts come in zip-lock baggies. Not every part will have a Porsche marking or ID on them.
I’ve noticed Aftermarket parts/suppliers use zip locks with their own label or generic label, that’s to be expected. Suppliers like Pelican will also attach their labeling as an inventory control system but never repackage a Genuine part. Small stuff I ordered Genuine were always in heat-sealed bags with a PORSCHE printed label containing information besides part number, there’s a bar code above the part number, the part name in German, a safety standards disclaimer to the Dealer and maybe a date code among other printed identifiers to authenticity. As commented if you paid the Porsche price you should be getting Genuine otherwise return them. They likely are just aftermarket and would fit and last but that’s always the concern with aftermarket. The one without the yellow chromate plating coat might rust on the surface faster if it has any zinc protection at all. Maybe a reject in the batch - that’s lack quality control. |
