Question torque spec strut insert

Does anyone know a torque setting for the nut that holds the strurt insert into the strut body? This one is a Bilstien into a Boge housing. I'm not talking about the top nut. I found one post that mentioned approximately 145ft lbs and Koni's?

The funny beveled ring that came taped to the bottom of the insert is to go in the bottom of the strut tube so that the insert will sit high enough for the nut to engage, right?

Lastly, if someone does come up with a torque setting, can you let me know where you found it. Is there any on-line reference guides for this subject?

Thanks a bunch,

Dave Atkinson

The instructions that came with mine (Bilstein SP strut inserts for Boge struts on a 911) said the lock ring is torqued to 130 +- 10 Nm (95 +- 7 ft lb).

I don't recall any ring or other part that goes "under" the strut insert (i.e. at the bottom of the strut tube) or that was taped to the bottom of my strut insert.

My strut inserts came with two redundant parts. One was a small rubber ring around the strut insert shaft, which I think was just protective packaging. The other was an extra lock ring for strut tubes that are threaded on the inside.

Note my car is a 911, maybe there is some difference between 911 and 912 struts?

John, thanks for posting your info.

I'm guessing the difference between our strut dimensions is due to the fact that mine are the early style, and just about everything on the early cars are just that much different from the the rest of the years to make things complicated for us early car owners.
