It's the circular winding inside the distributor. That the green wire plugs into.

Ivan the reason you don’t find them in PET is because Porsche never offered them as a spare part. They where only available with the complete distributor. I use to get a Huco unit from KW and SSF back in the day that had IIRC a Volvo application. I have posted pics and the part number here before but I have had ZERO luck in finding anyone that carries it anymore. I contacted Huco a few years back via Email and they told me that the part number I was inquiring about was NLA. I wish I had the foresight decades ago to buy up stuff like this and just stick it on the shelf but who knew all these years later what would happen to the Aircooled market and naïve me never thought the parts for these cars would disappear.

I have some pics somewhere in my phone of the last one I have, I will dig them out and post them maybe you can find someone in Germany that still has some.

John here is a picture of the Huco units I used for years that i was getting from KW parts and also SSF, IIRC it was a Volvo application.
I think there was someone on PP recently that said they got one from a Mercedes application that worked in the Porsche distributor.

I get you about the PET but i could swear when i lived in LA i used to get them from either IMC or SSF-those days the PET did not exist yet..that is for outsiders in the 1990`s

You are correct Ivan but you never got one from Porsche as they were not a Porsche part or even a Porsche application, they were either Volvo or Mercedes applications. I only bought a small number of them over the years maybe 15-20 as they rarely failed and IIRC they were less than $20.
