I still thing you should just take the exhaust in the picture and bend it up at a 45 degree angle.

Bikers had to start making their straight pipes on more of an upward angle about 8 years ago. Why? So they could piss off the people sitting up in their SUVs.
Heh heh, I like how you say Whine & Cheese crowd....lol |
Wayne....25 bucks and an application at DMV for the plate gets you one....has to 25 years old though....the car that is....they have to be taught how to do it. It's not real common.

Mike,
Couple of thoughts since I have been down a sorta similar path with the 912E exhaust (not too many exhaust options out there for this car either). The bus exhaust has a crossover pipe. I don't know if you installed it (or something like it) but the T4 motor runs like crap without some type of crossover. I tried dual outs without a crossover and it was not good. My local exhaust bender fabricated my idea for me last year and it works well and it's cheap; we took the cast iron manifolds from a 76 bus and then created a U-shaped header with small cylindrical mufflers (like "glasspacks" of about a 14in x 5in tube style) which then merged in the center of the rear of the bumper area where the factory muffler contraption would have been. I cut my valence and we did a center exit pipe from there. I'd bet the whole thing weighs about 20 pounds which is nothing compared to the heavy factory 912E heat exchangers. The only problem is that now we have to find another set of the manifolds since our 76 bus is just about road ready and the exhaust manifolds are on my Porsche! Good luck, David P.S. If you want a pic of my exhaust email me and I'll send one to you. |
Don't forget the upturned exhaust with the ducktail.

that's more like it...now can someone add an intake/scoop/housing on the back of the roof for the oil cooler (ala baja bugs...or F1, yeah, that's it). I know Mike want's to put it elsewhere, but after he sees how *right* it looks, I'm sure he'll change his mind...

Mike, You never cease to amaze me. Im liking that little beast every time I see more of her.

Look at the first picture of the license plate and then the second picture. Its been PhotoShopped.

i thought mike was cutting off the roof shortly.
