Any advice guys? I have the original carpets, and they were all perfect until last night when leaving a party I did not want my drunk friend to drive home so while dragging his sorry piss drunk a$$ out to the car he stepped in dog ***** then we shoehorned him into the backseat, after we all hop in and shut the doors he says "whoa, smells like dog ***** guys, one of you must've stepped in dog *****". As he says that the smell hits me (my other friend who was riding shotgun has some nasal problems and couldn't smell it at all), I hop out of the car and smell the bottoms of my feet, they're clean. Then the other two hop out and Danny (the drunk) exclaims it's him. Anyway, we all got home alright, but as soon as I got home I took the *****ty floor mat out and then sprayed some simple green on it to no avail. Next came some "resolve" carpet cleaner, but that was only marginal. At this point I could careless about the two square-inch stain, I just want it to stop smelling like dog feces. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to your local Smart & Final and buy a carpet cleaning product called Folex. It's magic! Also, most pet stores carry products that will do the job.

Take it down to the local carwash and have them clean the carpets. Keep the offending rear floormat out of you car till it passes the sniff test.
Nice work driving Danny home. He has a good friend.

He has a better friend than he deserves. I'd say Danny ought to be the one taking the mat down to the car wash.

Nature's Miracle from a pet supply store for the smell. Also I've actually had really good sucess with Resolve, so maybe give that another try.
And Jack is right..."Danny" should do the scrubbing. At least he didn't hork in the back... |

Alright, I'll try the Folex and if that doesn't work then Nature's Miracle I guess.
As for Danny, well he's a party animal. He's the guy who rolls in with the beer bong around his neck and the flavored tobacco hooka bag around his shoulder and an 18 pack in his hand. This kid parties hard and he's a car guy to boot (has a Renault R5 turbo II with some small upgrades). We're good friends and I know he'd do the same to me if I was in a drunken haze. I made sure he got all his yacking done with before we lugged him away, he got a little carried away with the Bacardi 100 proof, that's all.

Ron, try Nature's Miracle. Sometimes you have to soak the carpet multiple times but you have a good shot of de-stinking.

Definetly get that folex stuff. I have been using it for a few years and nothing beats it.

First, Let the carpet dry, take a stiff brush and get the dried crap out of the carpet. Vacuum it thoroughly BEFORE dampening the carpet with Nature's Miracle available at any of the warehouse pet supply places. Repeat this a couple of times and the smell and stain should go away. Let the carpet dry thoroughly before you reinstall it.

You got a bummer of a deal for helping out a friend but compared to the trouble he could have gotten into you did the right thing.
I work for the company that makes Oxi Clean. You can get small sizes at Wal~Mart, K-Mart and most grocers. Oxi Clean has a component that really goes after organic compounds like dog *****, urine, blood, fruit juices, etc. YES, it get's out the odors too. It is also color safe and won't bleach out your carpet (WARNING: if it is real wool carpet you might have a problem but it will be with all products and not just Oxi Clean, do a test on a small corner out of sight if you think it is wool). I'd let the mat dry, brush as much dried stuff as you can and then mix up a batch of Oxi Clean (use the hottest water you can) and really douse it. Just let it dry.

Torch the car and get a new one. It's the only solution!

You sure it was a dog? Hell, if I were drunk in the back of a 911, I'd probably crap too.

Folex is great, but I used to have a shop next to an auto detailer that did a lot of the exotics in Newport Beach. He took anything that was removable from the floors and hit it with the hose, shampooed it, hosed it clean and shop vac'd the water out and let dry. Didn't matter what kind or car. The mats all looked new and neutral smell. I hate it when you get in a car and smell anything but the car.
