PMO Induction accelerator pump gasket quality
Ive been concerned about the lousy material spec on the new PMO accelerator pump diaphragm gaskets. New ones are black not red. Different material that is TERRIBLE.
Leak if you look at them = engine fire!! Just spoke to Henry at EMPI yesterday afternoon, (great guy) EMPI is having a new manufacturer produce the gaskets like the old red ones again. Cloth material coated in red silicone material. EMPI is a great company still. These are the new crap gaskets ($100 each for diaphragm) total junk Old red material gaskets will be available very soon again. They've switched manufacturer. |

My experience is that the red/orange original gaskets were leak prone, I have repaired 3 sets of PMO carburetors with worn, wrinkled, leaky red/orange gaskets. The silicone is thin; the cloth does nothing to stop leaks.
I have had excellent results using the Royze gaskets sold on ebay under $25.00 for a complete set. The rubber they use holds up to modern fuels. $3.00 for ROYZE Weber 40/46 Ida Ids Idt Carburetor Diaphragm Repair Porsche 911 2.0 2.2l $8.50 for WEBER 40 IDA CARBURETOR PUMP DIAPHRAGM Shane
