Nick Moss tell me about your stands 70E
I want to build some rotating stands like you have your 70E on in your resto pictures. May put wheels on them. How tall are your from ground to rotation axis and is the cars bumper centerline close enough to the center of mass that you have control of the shell as you rotate it?
Porsche content, specific shell stands for a 911 bare shell!! Love those pics you have on your site. Thanks,

724doorE,
Sounds like you are talking about a rotisserie. I posted a link to a website explaining how to make one on the Pelican BMW forum a few weeks ago. It is BMW 02 specific, but still helpful if you are going to make one for your 911. Rotisserie for BMW 02 Take a look at www.gunnarracing.com too, they use them all the time.

Yes that would be the culprit, although your thread shows a much more complicated version than does Nicks. I suspect yours is able to accomodate different autos though. I still want to know if Nick has any specifics about his particular style.
Thanks for the links Ove

The c/l is 1000 mm, the box is 50 mm and the angle is 40mm.
I designed it for a turbo body so if you have a narrow body you could lower it by 50mm. I would improve it by raising the pivot attached to the body by about 150 - 200mm to get it closer to the C of G of the body |

Nice Nick Thanks,Do you have a screw in lock on those so the shell can't rotate just like an enigne stand? I'm guessing a stripped shell is in the neighborhood of 750 pounds or about 300-350 kilos. is that a fair estimate?
Oh and Nick, tell us about that orange ST on you site! Thanks again

Heck, I’m only 5 not 71!

I built a rotisserie from plans I acquired on the net. I paid around $185.00 for all the steel cut to the dimensions of the plans. I did all of the drilling and welding. Took a weekend to build and is easy to push around or in and out of the garage. Allows full 360 degree rotation and will accommadate up to a stripped 70's Charger chassis. Pictures of the Rotisserie are on my restoration web page. The rotisserie can be taken apart for storage when done with it.

I have a screw lock, but because I got the GofG wromg it won't hold the shell on it's side. I chock it up with a piece of wood. Very Technical! I would guess the weight of the bare shell at less than 300Kg as I can just lift I end at a time on my own. |
