drove my 911 for the first time in 2 1/2 yrs
After a long hiatus, I drove my blue car for the first time in 2 1/2 yrs. Pretty cool! Fresh paint, newly rebuilt tranny etc.
Attached are a couple of photos. One is what your car exhaust looks like after pumping marvel mystery oil down into the cylinders. The other is in my driveway after a short drive to clear out all the junk out of the cylinders...about 20 minutes. You will notice the lack of valance/chin spoiler giving the impression of a nast over-bite...tomorrows project. It ran pretty good despite the plug fouling. I forgot how well this car pulls. (3.0, GE 60 cams, weber 40's) I do have a little buzz in the transmission that I don't like. I am not sure if the shifter is misaligned or if the trans has to go through a break in period or something. anyone care to respond?

Beautiful car!
So what, were you like, in a coma???? There's no excuse for neglecting a nice car like that. 3.0, GE60's and Webers? I'll bet it goes like stink! Just converted a customer's 3.0 over to that same set-up. Well, the Web-Cam version of GE-60's. It flat rips! Have fun! ![]()

Thanks for the compliment.
coma? No no coma. I had a new son two years ago and bought an old sailboat about the same time. Those two things combined with my 80 yr old house kept me away from the car. It has hardly been neglected lately anyway. I completely stripped the car, painted it, added carrera flares, the ducktail and all new seals etc. I also had the trans rebuilt, changed back to a stock '74 exhaust from my sport muff. I've still got a few little things that need to be done...carpet, door panels etc. The next big project is to completely set-up the suspension to be an awesome multi purpose car. ...street/track/auto-x and to add some better brakes. I think I will enjoy the car for a little while before dropping the suspension out of it though.

Congrads!
Mine is almost to a year and a half now, but I'm really close. I just got my 2.7 motor, fixed all the rust on the car, replaced the front suspension pan, and am waiting for my tranny which is being rebuilt, and then I can reassemble it all. My excuses, mostly money, but kids too. Nice job, looks great! ![]()

Elombard, I am running some Mahle pistons in my original cylinders. The C.R. came out to be 9.3:1. I bought the pistons from andial w/o cylinders. It is pretty rare that they will sell them this way but they just happened to have some laying around. I had hoped to get the compression up to about 9.8:1 but fell short. I had the heads rebuilt and some mild port work done by Walt at competition engineering. ...I started with he 80-83 style heads. The 78-79 style might NOT need any port work. A little more compression and perhaps a displacement increase from 3.0 to 3.2 would be nice on the bottom end but all in all it turned out to be a good running econo-wise engine build and it sounds awesome.
Noah, I have owned this car since around the time I got out of college, I can relate to being busy and poor BIG TIME.

MIne was off the road for 14 months. Took it back to bare metal and had all the rust cut out. I promised myself that I would not drive it until it was finished. The car passed the MOT test last week and is now legal, so I am driving it with no carpets fitted and several panel missing.
BUt I have discovered lift-off oversteer, now I love roundabouts.....:0
