Photos from Goodwood Festival of Speed

Here are some photos I took at another great festival. There are some interesting Porsches too. Hope you like them.

Fantastic collection of pictures. Very nice.

Is photgraphy a profession or hobby? Some of the shots were very artistic with great lines. They really captured some unusual angles on some cars.

Glad you liked them. Photography is a hobby but I do work with images for a living so I'm used to photoshop and composition and so on. Also I use a digital camera - so I take loads which you never see Often I end up with the interesting angles because I'm trying not to get all the crowds in shot. But I do really enjoy looking at/photographing the fantastic designs and details of the cars (Bugatti's are simply stunning close up). I always wanted to be a car designer.

Stef.

Did you take two cameras or can you swap from colour to b&w pics with your digital camera ?

(I love the pics... especially of the trumpet air intakes)

Very nice pictures. I've always wanted to experience Goodwood Festival of Speed. Your pics makes me want to even more.

917s, Carrera GT, GT1, 911s etc. etc. etc. Impressive.

Most digital cameras can shoot in Black and White - sometimes I use it on grey days whne colour would be a bit drab - sometimes I use it to tidy up a busy image.

Did you notice the intake on this Shadow? It's like a 2ft ray gun...

This car really does it for me, cold shower time.
Is it a Ferrari or Alfa?

Does anyone have any pics or details on the gas turbine driven car that appeared at the show. I caught a glimpse of it travelling the course on the highlighs show on Sky. It sounded awsome!

Stef...

I didn't see the Shadow .... it didn't run up the hill did it ?
There were simply too many gorgeous cars there ... I don't know if I even got to see half of them !!

Sammy - that's an Alfa T33 (there are lots of alfas with the same name - all beautiful) - one of my all time favourites.

Here's a link - I couldn't get yours to work...

http://www.pbase.com/image/19129145

Chris - there were 2 gas turbine cars. A Rover/BRM driven by Graham Hill and Richie Ginther at Le Mans. The other (here) was a Howmet - a very fast American endurance car (194mph). I found a nice page about it here...

Stefan,

Thanks for that. That's the one (Howmet)! It sounded so cool. Like the Batmobile.

I can email you a copy which is twice as big if you like. I haven't got any others though. You're probably best off getting the official ones from the Porche site - they're terrific.

I liked it but it just didn't grab me visually as much as some of the older machinery. The noise was good though.
