Another new set of shoes thread - Fikses on '87 turbo
I'm moving my 7" and 9" fuchs to my '72 (once it gets RS flares on the rear). So it was an opportune time to put some more meat on the rear of the '87 (and the front too). For those interested, I plan on doing a weight comparison of the complete wheel tire combo this weekend.
Here are the before and after shots. Before: 7 and 9 x 16 Fuchs, painted GP white. 205 55 R16 and 245 45 R16 Bridgestone PP S03 (this pic might've been the old RE71s in the same size). After: 8 and 10 x 18 Fikse FM-5 with standard finish. 225 40 R18 and 275 35 R18 Kumho Ecsta MX. ![]()

Wow--that's quite a difference and looks great. I love the FM5's!

Sharp!!! I love it. A couple years ago I saw a white turbo with FM-10s. I fell in love with it, and I must have one, eventually.

I lightened it for a better look.
Sharp looking shoes! Looks awesome, you don't see 18's on 911s often. Makes the car look a miniature model. I like the ride heigth as is. I'm fitting some (3 piece Fuch) 17x9.5 and 12s with 274/40 and 335/40 on my turbo look.

Jurgen, I was debating FM-10s...but decided to go with FM-5s for the ease in cleaning. Here's a similar car with FM-10s.
http://www.c2turbo.com/photopost/index.php?user=50&cat=500&thumb=1 The ride is a little more rough, but not significantly. I'm still running the standard Bilsteins (sports, I believe, not the HDs). A friend has a carrera with HDs and 17s, and his car is much rougher than mine...although he has -no- body roll. His setup is much better for the track. Ted, 335s will fit? I saw a set of 315s being fitted to a friends 930 over the weekend (9x17 and 10.5x17 fikses). He rubbed a little on the drivers side...so he's going to roll the fenders. In the front, he stuck with 235s as the 245s were rubbing the oil cooler at full lock and the fenders didn't look safe if he hit a bump while turning. Good luck! You sure you need 335s? I only went to wider tires because hitting full boost in 1st gear was roasting my tires. And hitting full boost in 2nd gear routinely is asking for jail time. My friend with the 315s was turning a ton more HP than me with his water injection fired up.

9" & 10-11" and appropriate rubber will easily fit on a 930. As w/ SC/Carrera you need the correct o/s.

I use 6 inch negative back spacing front and rear. Rear fender oil lines must be rerouted, clearance the spring plate bolts and perhaps a little fender clearancing. Normal alighnment issues. Here's a shot of a turbo with the same wheel sizes. Here is the link to the same (very very quick!)car for SALE.
