Another Zenith question. Pls read.

My 71'T w/2.2 has those pesky Zeniths. After many hours, The car starts , accelerator pumps are doingtheir job, the car warms and takes fuel and actually sounds pretty good except fo that persistant "microwave popcorn" it sounds like it's making.

So, I have rebuilt both carbs, incl accl. pumps, tried blocking of the enrichment circuit, tried adjusting the float levels, set the timing and nothing has helped. The only way to start to stop the popping is to make the fuel so rich the garage fills with smoke. Now the concern is, I can actually turn the mixture screws in to fully stop and the car still runs. Is it time for new carbs????
