Check out this Speedster...

Last week I found this car on Rennlist classifieds and emailed it to a friend who said he was looking for just such a car. So we went to check it out on Sat. What a gorgeous drive to Middleburg, VA. My friend was in his 996TT and I had my 993. Seller also had a pristine Ferrari 328 under a cover in his garage.

These gauges are just soooo cool.

A few gratuitous shots of the old with the new.

Well, my friend was just blown away by this car. Who wouldn't be? He bought it on the spot and is having it transported enclosed a whopping 50 miles or so from Middleburg, VA to Potomac, MD. It's that perfect and it would just be such a shame to get a single scratch or rock chip on it. The engine sounds just amazing. Can't wait to see this car featured in a concourse show or magazine.

OK I'll bite.... HOW MUCH? And do you have some shots of the engine?

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

Asking price was $65k. I didn't listen in on the bargaining, but seller made a quick phone call and handshakes were exchanged all around about 15 min. after we got there. Seller thought I was bluffing when I called him and said I had a friend who was interested. Then we showed up a little late and he just wasn't taking us seriously until he saw the 996TT.

BTW, my friend bought another 356 Coupe last Thurs. and traded in one of his 348's for a 512BB on Fri. So it was a busy week for him and he has a little explaining to do when his wife sees these things show up.

Enclosed transport for a 50 mile trip. Why does that statement bother me?

What a stunning Speedster!

Great story, Richard. Your friend is a lucky guy and he's building an awesome collection of cars!

Yeah, with an asking price of $65K, I'm not surprised the deal closed in 15 minutes.

That is an awesome looking car!

Well, spend a good chunk of your life in medical schools, develop and patent some wonder drugs, get FDA approval, start your own Rx co. and voila - you're there. That's what my friend did. I met him while I was dating one of his consultants. She took me to his house, telling me he had a bunch of Ferraris, which I did not believe until I heard his Testarossa revving when I pulled into his driveway. She's gone, but he and I still email about cars all the time.

And Brian, I should mention the only thing missing form this car is that the engine has been swapped and is now (I believe) a Super 90. I know that just kills some purists. But it sounds every bit as cool as my 993 Fabspeed.

Also, I'll be seeing Jerry Seinfeld this Fri. night at the Kennedy Ctr. I'll be driving my 993 to this gig, just in case he's milling around the parking garage - yeah right.

That's an awesome looking car!! One day I hope to park a 356 next to the 911 too!

I was at my wrench's shop last Friday and he has a 1955 356 Speedster in for some mechanical restoration - body and paint are already done - absolutely beautiful. In fact, the owner shipped the car from Australia to California in order for my mechanic to finish the restoration and then will have it shipped back to Australia - says something for this guys work doesn't it?
