smog question
When I bought my '79 Targa in April, the seller didn't have time to smog it so I offered to do so if he paid for the test and any repairs if it doesn't pass. Sure enough it didn't pass and since the smog shop does not work on Porsches, I went looking for a wrench nearby. The wrench said the next time I needed a smog, to come see him first for an adjustment. Otherwise, I'm going to flagged a gross polluter for continuing to fail the test. He also said after the smog test, return to him so it can be readjusted because I won't like the way it runs. He charged one hour of labor for something that took five to ten minutes to adjust. Does anyone have an idea what that adjustment could have been (timing?) I have a smog pump and no AC. It seems he removed the smog pump belt and used a screwdriver to do the adjustment. Thanks for any help.
