Curious, what's the difference between the 930 brake pads and the 964 brake pads?
Are they the same in dimensions/thickness?

They are the same size pads and are interchangeble but 964s have brake warning sensors.
930f/r, 964 f/r, 993r are the same pad except for sensor wire This is a 993 rear pad w/ sensor wire and a 993 front pad ![]() * neither the sensor wire nor the anti squeel spiders are necessary for correct operation

Thanks Bill.
I have a pre-89 911 M491, with the 930 Turbo brakes. Did these use the sesnor wire? I don't think I have a dash LED for this brake sensor. I doubt it was a feature in the pre-89 911's. ONly in the 964's & 993's, right?

I have an '87 M491, and it does have wear sensors on the stock brakes. I installed new sensors when I change pads, ordered from our host.

I thought front and rear pads on 930 brakes were the exact same. According to your picture Bill those 993's look different (F/R)

930s use the same pad front and rear. Bill was showing you the pads from a 993. The 930 uses a pad sized like the rear pad on a 993. Ignore the other pad in the picture.
Porsche started installing the brake wear warning lights and wiring on the 1984 cars. The brake warning light on the dash in these cars is divided into two lights, one of which is for the wear indicators. This info is in the cars' owner's manual, for those that want to learn more. JR |
