Plugs coming out white?
About 1k-1.5k miles ago I put a set of Bosch WR8DP plugs in my '79 SC. This morning I'm running the valves and pulled the plugs. They are coming out white. Is this cause for concern? How can I fatten the mix up a bit?
Eric

The 3mm adjustment screw on the fuel distributor is under a plug(?) between the boot and the outgoing lines. It's very sensistive and this has to be done with a CO meter! Right is richer.
Check the archives under CIS (constant injection system). |

I agree that it appears you're running lean, although 1.5k miles might not be enough to tell. The plugs should be a slight tan color.

How do you get a slight tan on unleaded? Back in the good ol' days we called it lead deposits.
My 86 3.2 will either have snow white plugs like out of the box or a sooty black one if fouled. Any sign of discoloration means replacing or else put up with a slight miss. Cheers, Joe Last edited by stlrj; 07-23-2003 at 06:27 PM.. |
