Carpet for early 911
Hello,
I have quite a dilemma. I'm not sure what to do with my 911, and what path I should take. One things for sure, I don't want to race it. I'd rather get a coupe for that. Anyway, what I have is a 1969 911T. It is a Targa, and needs quite a bit of body work. Tomorrow I'm going to drive it to a shop, and have new floorboards installed. During this time I will need to find a carpet kit for my early 911 T Targa. The person is only going to install the floorpans on his free time so this will give me a while to search around. I want to make sure I get a set I like. I want to keep cost down, so will probably go to ebay. There was a guy in Germany (on ebay) selling carpet kits using the same material the original carpeting was made up of. I already have websites that help installing, I would just like feedback from people that installed carpet kits, and which one they would recommend. What I want to do with the car is make it a show car, and try to stay original. I would like to take my car to shows, and probably will attend Hershey PA each April, so I want to set it up for that. I don't know if replacing floorpans, carpet, and repraying the paint will rule me out? Thank you |

You may do better for responses if you post in the regular 911 tech BBS area rather than the classified section... I don't know the answers to your questions, but am also interested in the replies... I have a 72 Targa that needs carpet too!

Robert Breshears sells a kit. He goes by appbiz on Ebay. I have his RS kit in my coupe, and have had no problems with it.
Maybe someone else here has his Targa kit.

I think a lot of cars in shows and museums have had extensive metal work and new paint. It is how it is done that makes al the difference. There are not many original/original cars of the early vintage. A popular show class of recent times is for cars that have never been restored, but if you need floor pans, you need floor pans. Go for the best work you can afford and be proud. Take it to any show you want. Never worry that because you had work done on a car that you can't show it. And, if you are on a budget, Pelican Parts is very competitive and can get almost anything. All you have to do is ask.
They might even include a set of instructions. ![]() |
