Sc Vin#
Hi guys,
I'm looking at a '80 SC and the VIN # only has 10 digits (91A0141996) as opposed to the 17 digits for other cars. Is this correct? Can anyone decipher this VIN #? Thanks. |

the current 17 digit system started in 1981. prior to that 10 was it.

Prior to changing over to an international (17-digit) chassis serial number in 1981, Porsche adopted an interim solution in the 1980 model year that used 10 digits.
91A0141996 91 = 911 A = 1980 0 = plant of manufacture 1 = model (Turbo would be a 3) 4 = USA model engine 1996 = sequential build number

Thanks. You guys are great. So I guess it will not be possible to run a carfax on this particular car. Although I have not seen the car, I thought that perhaps it was stolen.
