Need to rotate face of speedometer
 

The steering wheel obstructs lots of the speedo range and I wanted to rotate it CCW. Is there a trick for rotating it?

grab it really hard and twist

just don't twist too hard, so you don't pull the wiring out at the back

but I've seen people turn it quite a bit without problems

It is much easier to simply remove the guage by wiggling it out of the rubber gaskets (grab the guage ring with both hands (finger tips?), and wiggle left and right, left and right, until it's out. The gasket it perhaps 1/4" thick; will come out easily.)

Then you can rotate it to where all the numbers are visible, and push it back in. You can rotate it quite a bit, since this is an electric guage, and only wires are connected, not a cable. As for me, I put it so that 60 MPH is straight up (at 12:00 o'clock), and thus can see when I'm exceeding the speed limit. Anything below, it does not count.

Andras has given you good advice on how to turn the sppedo and tach although I'm not sure why he would put 60 mph straight up as that would give you more of a view of the lower end of the speedometer. Here is a pic of my rotated tach and speedo.

Yep, just turn the gauge. If yours is too tight to turn while in the dash then you can pop out one of the left hand gauges by pushing from behind through the trunk and then pop out the tach, and then pop out the speedo by going in through the tach hole. Don't worry too much about tearing the wiring as you can take the gauges completely out of the dash without removing the wiring, so you should have plenty of slack.

I have my gauges turned similar to Kurts, but I have the 0 mark straight down on both for uniformity.

i see the practicallity of this, but I hate the way it looks...

I guess if you are tracking it and your eyes are glued 100 yrd in front of you on the track it makes sense...

but seeing guages like that always makes me want to turn my head sideways...LOL

For those of you out there that will check out this thread later in life:
If you have a "cable" speedo, be careful when you rotate it. I rotated too far and the cable bound up and broke. Had to replace it, which was a PIA. The replacement cable and housing are longer, so I re-routed the cable and installed it in the rotated position.

But, it's done and I like the look. I have the Tach rotated like Kurt's photo. Easy to see when you hit redline. You don't even need to look, it's just straight up.

I rotated my oil temp/pressure gauge also so I could see the temp better. Only problem is that the temp gauge shows about 140 when it's cole because of gravity. That's ok with me since I only care about temps OVER 180 :)
