74 Carrera .Close To Engine Installation Pics

Someday I'll finally get my car completely back together and be able to drive it again. At least I'm close to getting the engine back in so I thought I'd share a few pics

That's incredible, Bob! It'll be worth the effort once it's done.

Wow, it doesn't get much cleaner than that! Will this be a show car or something you plan on driving?

Thanks for the kind comments. John, to answer your question, the car will continue to be a routine driver. It'll be 30 years old this October and I've owned it for about 20 years...I'm just trying to make it new again so it can go another 30. If I decide to show it, it will just be showing the rear end to some rice-burner as I disappear around a turn.

Nice!

Did you repaint the shocks? What color did you use?

Very inspirational! I hope mine will look half as good when I get done with the engine rebuild and rust repair!

Cheers,

And people give me ***** about my car being too clean?

Looks outstanding.

You could do open heart surgery in that engine bay!

Are you going to do a white and green exterior? That would be sweet.

Brian K, I did repaint the Bilstein's. Tried to get a paint code from Bilstein but they couldn't provide it and said that John Deere green was their recommendation so that is what I used. Krylon makes some but it is a flat finish and requires a clear coat. So, I got some from a John Deere dealer...it's an enamel and dries to a really hard finish.

Put the engine in yesterday evening, so I'm getting closer:
