HELP!!!!! Engine sounds wacky!

Had the car parked in the street and golfball-sized hail started to come down. I ran out, started up the car punched the gas and pulled ahead a few feet, and then punched the gas and backed up so I could get the car in the driveway, and then punched to actually get in the driveway under cover of the trees. Now, at idle the engine kind of sounds like a diesel!!!!!!! Like there is just way too much stuff happening in there that wasn't happening before.

F()CK!!!!!

Any ideas of what I might have done?

Detonation or pre-ignition might cause this...

Did you change fuel lately, get water in the fuel, etc?

Any sugar around the gas cap? Any petty vandalism you notice?

Hard to believe that simply starting and moving the car back and forth in an aggressive manner would cause a problem.

Fuel has been fine...untampered with. I'm going to run it over to a Porsche garage and have them give it a listen. I actually stayed up late searching for clues as to whether or not I might have bent a rod, valve, etc. Driving me crazy.

My car's at ******** in Chatham right now going in 15 minutes to pick her up, Gene's the kind of guy who will take some time, give it a listen/advice and then pull it into the bay for real work time if necessary....
