lets see your wheels

okay, I posted this in the wrong area earlier...lets try this again.
I've been looking to update my wheels to either cups or turbo twists. I'm not crazy about the all black look I have. I can't decide on chrome or painted, 16" or 17". Please show me yours, especially black cabs....or even polished fuchs? Any comments on weight/performance issues would be great also. Here is my current look.

Yeah, owning a car with black paint is like owning a convertible. Most of the time, it's a pain in the neck. Black doesn't look good in bright sunlight. It stays clean for about five minutes, and if you look up 'swirl mark' in the dictionary, the illustration will show a black car. It also shows every nick and chip like it's a bright star on a dark night (especially on a fiberglass car like mine).

Drive a convertible, and you've got a car that's louder and heavier, with lousy visibility and a less-rigid chassis. But those two hours a day when the sun is just right and it's warm but not hot, and you've put the top down and can smell the flowers in blossom and hear the wind in the trees -- and you have an absolutely perfect moment.

In the same way, black paint looks great in the right light, which is at sunrise, sunset, or on a hazy day. For these pictures, I knew I'd have to be on that canyon ridge between 6:30 and 7:15 in the evening to get it to look right. Two days in a row, I planned on doing it -- only to realize I'd forgotten to leave at the right time.

But I finally remembered, and the photos look nice.

(My next car will be silver. )

The wheels look great, by they way, Ted.

(Although now that you've gone old-school and classy, I kind of miss the colors.)

Jack,

How could you do that to a classic car?

You should be ashamed - sell it to me cheaply and I promise to return it to its original glory. It may take some time though... I won't be in any rush.

Looks like it worked.

Okay, well, at least now I know I really do like all 3 (Cups, Twists and polished Fuchs), I still can't decide I would be happy with any of them. Now, should I stick with OE? Are the Cup I's 16" and Cup II 17"? I guess I will need spacers for everything but the Fuchs.

Thanks Rob...I KNOW I need the OE Carrera tail now, let's see, add that to my short list....Bilstein Sports, turbo tie rods, 930S wheel, strut brace and a set of new floor mats.

Well, I don't know what your definition of pricey is but I picked mine up on E-bay new never been driven on with new tires for only $1450.00 I thought that was a good deal considering they do not make these anymore. They are farily lightweight considering they are quite a bit bigger then my Fuchs were. They are made by Speedline for RUF and are forged and not cast. Very nice quality. But if I ever do want to sell I will let you know.
Regards, Kenneth
