Sounds like you need to just convert it to a manual top. Remove the motor, transmissions, and header frame latch motors, and put manual roller latches from an '86 and later Targa in place of the electric latches. Way less headache in the long run. Even if you fix this, chances are something else will fail in the not-so-distant future.
I've been lucky with my C2, but then, I've done some preemptive repairs to it. It's very common for one of the cables to disengage from the motor, causing only one side to raise/lower. If you don't stop it in time, or don't notice it, it will break the top bow. Not fun and not cheap.

jenpm,
I don't have an electrical diagram, but would a picture of the module and wires help? If so, I can take/post a pic after I get home from work at ~4:00PM. Gary 90 C2 Cab |

thanks, it would help. can you detail the wiring harness attachment. Would you know which one I can buy a manual, either bentley or factory edition that details the wiring mechanism so i can trouble shoot.

Sorry, I wouldn't know where to begin labeling the wires. I'll go get a pic of the module now and post in couple of minutes.

Can't seem to find the control module in the footwell area on mine. Do know where it's located?
I'll poke around and try to find it. Gary 90 C2 Cab |

Hey, I had the same thing happen to me today. Wow! What a coinsidence. It doesn't sound like an electrical problem. Mine wasn't and I fixed mine w/ a straight slotted screwdriver. You are hearing the two small motors that push the rollers which locks and unlocks the top in place to the top of the windshield. There are two narrow slots you can put a straight slotted screwdriver in to adjust the locking mechanism. Take a flashlight and shine it in the slots and you will see the screws. Both rollers have to be at exactlly the same position or the top may not completelly lock and sometimes not open up if they're out of adjustment. Mine was so badly out of whack that I took the panel off exposing both locking motors and screwed each clockwise until they both were securelly locking the top in place. Then pressed the buton to open the top and the top opened, pressed it the other way it closed. It takes a bit of time and quite a few turns . I'd recommend turning one a few turns then the other a few to keep them going even as they lock into place.

Tyson, I have the same problem with the top and you are right on the dime to convert to manual, since cab's owner has to get out and put a boot on anyway. Do you have a picture of the manual top machanism and its components or point it out where I can find it on internet. Thanks in advance.
