Another ebay scam in progress?

Follow this link in the NZ\Australia forum Bill Douglas: Your car is on ebay. The picture IS of my car and the guy is selling a car in California. Just a warning; don't bid on this car or you may loose your money.

I would notify E-bay immediately. Is the VIN number the same as yours....

Anybody want to chip in to figure out how to bust this guy?

someone should send the bidders a link to the thread if you're 110% positive that the picture shown is absolutely yours.

So let me get this right. This guy is selling a 911, any 911, but he is using the picture of your car to represent it? Am I getting this right?

I sent him email asking if the picture was of the actual car, and he didn't answer that question, but instead sent a bunch of pictures of the "actual" one.

I think he's just using Bill's nice picture. Maybe he should e-mail him and ask him to change it.

I don't think he's trying to scam anyone, just using creative marketing. After all, the picture of a Burger King Whopper on a billboard isn't really an edible sandwich, just a doctored up one!

The only benign explanation I could see is if they guy does not have a digital cam so he just stole the best representative pic off the internet that he could find.

If I was a gambling man I would bet that the condition of his car is not that good.

I sent him a nice note...

Thanks.

I'd change your e-bay photo. The car in the e-bay photo looks like yours, but belongs to a gentleman in New Zealand. This may potentially hurt your sales since the word is getting out...

Good luck.

Excellent point! I don't think you will get much from e bay either. they got bigger fish to fry and can't get them. I also think he knows he's busted. i.e. the REAL photos appear. send him an e mail. I think all else would be a "cease and desist" letter from a barrista. But i don't think it's worth the fight. I don't think he scammin either. consider it flattering that he admired your car enough to steal it's picture. Makes me wonder how many times my own car was sold somewhere! Stealing a pic from the web is just too easy.

Yep, it looks innocent enough now he is sending his own photos. And I guess flattering he choose mine. I'm blocked from accessing my favorite sites such as ebay, atkingdom and hotmail here at work so I could'nt see what was going on too well. So thanks guys!

LOL, now I would be concerned about that Jack.

I never thought of having my local Starbucks coffee jockey sending out c-n-d letters.

It...just....might...WORK!

Bill, wait until this one doesn't hit the reserve. Then you will understand Jack's pain.

Yep, my favorite angle on a 911. Great backdrop too. Is there a high res available?
