Question What is this connector for (pic)?

Ok, when I pulled my engine, this connector was not connected. What is it?

That connection sends a signal from a switch that shows whether there is air moving through the CIS system. It measured where the air plate is, and is an indication that the engine is running. The signal goes to the fuel pump control system. When the engine is not "running", the fuel pump runs on the "starting" circuit of the controller -- it runs when the starter is engaged, otherwise it is off. After the engine is running, the controller switches to the "run" circuit for continuous operation.

With that connector unplugged, the fuel pump runs the entire time the ignition switch is in the 'on' position. The engine will run fine.

With that connector plugged in, the fuel pump only runs when the engine is running. It helps prevent this from happening :

Perhaps that is why my fuel pump run whenever I have the key in the run poistion without starting the engine.

Wouldn't this help a bad fuel accumulator or check valve at the pump by having the system pressure before startup?

I think I'm going to follow my own advice if it working fine don't f**k with it.

Yup. These get unplugged so you don't have to actually fix what is wrong with your car.

What's the symptoms of the accumulator or check valve being broken? I'm assuming that since I pulgged it back in I should expect something not to work.
