Uh Oh, Mystery Hose After Engine Out - Identify?

Uh oh . . . after dropping my engine this morning, I notice this mystery hose - that I did not disconnect, didn't notice getting taut as I raised the car, and can't find a place for on the backside of the motor. Does anyone know what/where this is? It is the fabric-wrapped vacumn hose hanging down in the middle of the picture, with a red spring clip on it.

Edit: the hose is appx 5/8" O.D., wrapped in gray/black fabric weave with "VRT" on it, and comes out of a rubber grommet on the inner right rear fender, roughly half-way between the oil tank and the firewall.

And, as usual, gratuitous photos of the outed engine and the cramped little place where I sometimes read this BBS:

Brake booster? Evap tank return to engine?
BTW, that's an impressive economy of space, how do you do it?

It is a pain, that's what it is. I didn't ask my friends to help me drop the engine because I figured I didn't have room :-)

I will check out the line - thanks.

You'll see the male end where it connects on the back of the stock airbox.

Not sure about the hose, but I like the idea of doing the engine drop in a closet! How'd you get the car through the front door?

I still have a mistery hose that's not being used after my engine drop! doesn't seem to do anything? Good luck

Yep - that looks like the hose that goes from the airbox to the charcoal cannister in the front of the passenger side rear fender well. I believe it is to capture any unburnt fuel fumes (it is part of the emissions system).
